NYC 2018

The Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD), Govt. of India has declared January 12th the birthday of Swami Vivekananda as the National Youth Day. Accordingly, India celebrates the birthday of Swami Vivekananda by a number of workshops, seminars and conferences to motivate and energize the young Indians to dedicate them to the development of the nation.

Swami Vivekananda represented a person with commitment, compassion, bias for action with a global perspective. He was India centric with an International orientation. He promoted eradication of poverty, helping needy and advocated inclusive growth, women empowerment. He dreamt a prosperous and powerful India. He was able to inspire and motivate a galaxy of persons both in India and abroad to do great things for the benefit of the society.

Swami Vivekananda was a Karma Yogi and Fierce Patriot committed to the growth, development and prosperity of all Indians. He believed in equal opportunity for all Indians. He expected youth to take responsibility in shaping not only their destiny and hence the destiny of the India as well.

The five editions of the two day National Youth Conference (NYC) had been organized at Indian Institute of Management, Indore during 2008-2014. Sixth and Seventh editions of National Youth Conference (NYC 2015, NYC 2016) were organized in the campus of Marwari Group of Educational Institutions, Rajkot. The Eighth edition of National Youth Conference (NYC 2017) was organized by Vivekananda Educational Trust, Chennai jointly with SRM University, Kattankulathur, Chennai.

The purpose of National Youth Conference 2018 (NYC 2018) is to bring together young men and women to help them to appreciate important challenges before our country. The conference exposes the participants to professional workshops that will help them to acquire skills / talents to improve their personality no matter what career path they may choose. A few sessions would focus on the philosophy enunciated by Swami Vivekananda in the context of resurgent India.

The ninth edition is scheduled on the EDII, Gandhinagar Campus during February 23-24, 2018.

The ninth edition would be attended by students from various education institutions in Ahmedabad. Three monks from the Ramakrishna Mission order would bless the conference. Three workshops on Creating, Managing and Resolving Conflicts: Lessons from Panchatantra, Empowering Youth & Spiritual Intelligence are planned. The theme sessions of this conference include Bias for action (two speakers), Corruption free India & Challenges in execution (a) Clean Ganga and (b) Swachh Bharat.
